4 Things to Consider When Ordering Gym Towels in Bulk

White Towels Blog Post

If you’re weighing your options for your next order of gym towels, you likely have a number of concerns. Some of these towel concerns can include quality, fabric characteristics and pricing. To help address these concerns and ensure you get the most out of your next purchase, here are 4 things to consider when ordering gym towels in bulk:

Fabric Type

The first thing to consider is the fabric type. Texon’s gym towels are available in 3 types of fabric: cotton, cotton-polyester blend, and microfiber. Let’s take a closer look at each one:

Cotton

Cotton is a natural fiber and is the most widely available fabric type. It’s absorbent and soft to the touch. The downside to cotton is the shrinkage which occurs from high temperatures while washing and drying.

Cotton-Poly

Blending synthetic fibers with the natural cotton strengthens the integrity of the fabric, therefore reducing the amount of shrinkage and wrinkling. As a result, they are durable and last longer. The downside is that polyester is derived from oil, which makes it’s absorbency less than 100% cotton.

Microfiber

Microfiber towels are made from multiple synthetic fibers. An upside to fabric made out of 100% synthetic fibers is that it’s lightweight and compact. The fibers in this material are much smaller than natural fibers, increasing the surface area and making it ideal for cleaning and hygiene purposes.

Absorbency

Synthetic fibers are made from oil-based products; therefore, they are not as absorbent as natural fibers. Since cotton is a natural fiber it is capable of absorbing large amounts of moisture, making it ideal for bath and shower use.

Cost

Typically, synthetic fabric is more cost efficient than the natural fabric alternative. This is because it is a man-made fiber and costs are saved during production. Natural fiber fabrics tend to be more expensive due to the complex manufacturing processes. 100% cotton towels tend to outperform towels with synthetic fibers – which also increases the price. However, if you are expecting to replace your towels often, it might be more cost efficient to buy synthetic fiber towels.

Durability

Since natural fibers originate from plant materials they wear down (decompose) quicker than synthetic fiber fabrics. Synthetic fabrics are mainly plastic, which makes them more durable than natural fibers.
